There is a reason I publish...

Thanks for the reply,

There is a reason I publish the comments, its because its a true and fair thing to do. Telling us who you are was great as I can see where you are coming from and believe it or we respect the Bay pioneers (And know who you are).

The thing is though we do go into some detail but never mention GPS marks, its a pretty wide area and mentioning 7m water depths and rubble bottoms isnt really giving much away. Sure I guess we are reinforcing when the fish are on but its not really beyond that. We care for the enviroment and show respect to the area we visit, guess thats why the original posters comment cut deepest.

We never get any complaints about our site but the Durras reports have had a few. Its strange that the things we are doing now (Fishing in Bream comps etc) you guys have been doing before. Its nothing new, except some 'upstarts' are in your backyard doing things you and your friends have done before.

I will admit this season saw a few extra visitors who fished from a kayak, I for one was slightly dissapointed. Let me just say that the increased numbers had nothing to do with this site, sure some KFA members visited the area but not as often as you think.

I for one kept well away, think I only went twice all winter and avoid the area out of season. Seemed a bit quieter fish wise but cant say it was the busiest due to our little site. I have already spoken to a few people about the increased attention to the area from people fishing from a kayak and you can rest assured I will take your thoughts on board.

It would be nice to not be known as 'Killjoys' all because we strive to do our best and keep our content current. Firstly, I belive you are entitled to your say (Am I right in guessing your a local?). Many of us have been fishing Durras for years and our prime south coast representative lives only a stones throw away.

Secondly, before you consider your rant worthy of a reply I ask you to consider a few things relating to fishing the area. Be it Depot or Durras we have paid our dues and to this day will continue to pay our park fees to visit the area.

Kayak fishing is an ecological master stroke that bears very little impact on the area, it is certainly a sustainable water during the winter periods. The boosted tourism to your area may seem unwanted at first but I can pretty much write off any negative comment regarding exposure due to our presence.

Regarding the parking I am unsure if you are expressing concern over Depot or Durras. While the area has issues I will help spread the word (When you inform me of which exact area) that parking must comply with other beach access points. While I was not at this trip personally I can imagine your frustration.

The internet is truely a remarkable place and information is freely available. Kayak Fishing IS the number one water sport in Australia and here at www.kfa.net.au we are glad to be associated with promoting it. Some of us are respected peers in our community and even have Industry association.

Please feel free to email my admin address (paffoh@aol.com) to discuss the day in question in greater detail. If it has offended you numerous times then emailing me is a must, Kayak Fishermen are kind and generous with our greetings but be warned approaching ranting and raving is not the way to go.

Yours,

Paffoh (Admin)

Why do you have to brag about your catch on the in...

Why do you have to brag about your catch on the internet? I wont call it dangerous but I will call it terrible in anything like mud. If I put mud terrain tyres on I will lose all insurance rights due to XOS tyres (MT's not available in standard Subaru compliance plate size) but if I do that wouldnt happen again. They would probably handle like a bitch on wet tarmac though... Beggars cant be choosers eh?

As for the house stuff yeah it bites, I can appreciate most others have been through similar. Its not the first time its happened but its the first time in over 10 years and most of the stuff is useless to me in this point in time. Just when you need it its not there, such a fricking pain.

Anyway, I really do appreciate the visit and comments mate.

:)

Paff.... came here in a twisted windy route from ...

Paff.... came here in a twisted windy route from AKFF and though i loved the read, the heart goes out to you.

When i was young, i foolishly gunned my 1978 Mazda 323 around a corner, smashed against a gutter in the wet and rooted my rear axle. $80 later with the help of a mate and a nearby wrecker, problem sorted and nobody needed to know anything different.

Four years ago, living in a supposedly shady suburn of Kilburn in London, UK, i had my prized camera, laptop, back-up hard-drive and archive of 6 years of digital photos burgled and gone forever. I'm still bitter as a sour lemon about it all, but karma will get those f*ckers and life did roll on.

My my condolences, and the hope that karma flicks on back the other way are you're stuck with good happenings for a while to come.
